Definition of Thevenin Equivalent Circuit
The equivalent circuit representation involves a voltage source and a series resistance, illustrated in Figure 1. The open circuit voltage (VTH) is determined across terminals A and B, while the looking-in resistance (RTH) is the resistance measured across nodes A and B when independent sources are deactivated. An alternative method to find RTH is by using RTH = Voc/Isc, where Voc is the open circuit voltage, and Isc is the short circuit current flowing from A to B under an external zero resistance connection (short circuit).
