Holozoic nourishment is the process that occurs in organisms that intake solid or liquid sustenance within their body. It comprises the steps: intake, digestion, uptake, assimilation, and excretion. The nourishment mechanism in amoeba is holozoic nourishment.

What is The nourishment process?

Intake: It is the procedure of taking the food inside the mouth either by sucking or swallowing. Initial digestion initiates at this phase with saliva in the mouth.

Digestion: It is the process in which the ingested food is broken down with the assistance of certain enzymes.

Uptake: In this process, cells utilize the energy from the digested food.

Assimilation: The energy derived from the digested food is utilized by all the cells of the body.

Excretion: The waste products are expelled from the body.
