What VoIP equipment do I need?
When transitioning to VoIP phones, you have two options for your VoIP equipment: hard phones and softphones.
A hardware-based VoIP phone appears similar to the traditional “desk phone” you’re accustomed to, but it uses the internet for phone calls.
A VoIP softphone is a software-based phone installed on your computer or mobile device. This software lets you make and receive calls, much like any regular phone. The keypad is operated through the software.
With the software-based VoIP phone, you can use your computer’s speakers and microphone. Alternatively, you can opt for a headset designed for efficient VoIP use. Many find headsets offer better sound quality while enabling hands-free use on your computer.
